Personal favorites genre montages:

July 10, 2010

I am hard at work on the next album, a collection of pieces which all share the same theme, though the styles and genres are quite different. I'm not too sure what I'd like to name the project, though. It is difficult to come up with a good catchy title, something that pops, when the piece is essentially a Theme and Variations... not exactly the kind of thing that one associates with "zazz." Nonetheless, I'm excited to finish it. The final piece is quite epic, and it is starting to really come together. Family and friends received a preview of this as a Christmas present this last year. And that was initially where my intention stopped, but the more I thought about the project, the more I thought I could bring it to the public. Everyone needs a little harpsichord invention in their day.

The Invention starts it off introducing the main theme. Next a Viennese-classical orchestra takes over, a small colorful ensemble plays a sentimental version, a large orchestra and choir play a spooky and haunting version, and the final variation is played by a ridiculously large epic orchestra with drums and pipes and ethnic flutes.

I have also been working on a serious update to a piece I simply called Fanfare. I've been essentially re-orchestrating it from the ground up, fixing things that bothered me, all those places where time showed me I could do more; making the parts more interesting, and making the harmony more interesting as well. I have been doing this copy/prep to submit it for possible performance in the fall. My oboe teacher pointed me to the Orchestra Unleashed with has an open call for scores and after much thought about my library, this was the piece I decided to throw in. It calls for two additional players than they had listed as available, but if selected, I have an option to hire additional players. It would definitely be worth it. The tricky part is there are only a couple of days left until the submission is due. Wish me luck!

The Hanged Man is now available. I'm so excited this project is finally seeing the light of day.

Click here for the press release on the official film website.

May 19, 2010

In just six short days, the Hanged Man will be available for purchase or rental. I've provided a brief excerpt of the Main Titles in the demo, which I hope is viewed by the new owners as fair use. We'll see if I am requested to remove it. By the way, what do you think of the new demo?

A new site update is coming soon!

May 3, 2010

I've been busy working on a few new site updates. Nothing too dramatic layout-wise. But I will have a completely new demo, about which, I'm very excited. I've also been working on a new album, which should be available in a couple of months.

The Hanged Man will hit the streets May 25th! Click the poster to visit the official film site. You can preorder it from Amazon.

No word yet on whether or not a soundtrack will be released, but I'm optimistic.

Check out the latest LOST parody video: Season 3, Episode 14 - Battlestar Galactica.

Mockups for the Special Olympics 2009 World Winter Games are now posted. If I have time, I'll post some of the highlight video of the event.

Apparently you can download Double Header as a ringtone. I'm not sure why you'd want a 3-minute 55-second ringtone. It's a harmless link to the file, although it's an older mix. I recommend the newer version posted as Track 11 on the demo over to the right.

And although it's not particularly new, you can read a fun article about My Profile Story. I still love that project so much!

July 10, 2009

The Darkling is complete. It was a tough and detailed sound edit, and a really fun, dark and exciting score to create. Our first screening is at Panavision on July 16th.

June 16, 2009

My Profile Story will be airing on Comedy Central on June 23nd at 2:30am PST as part of Atom TV.

The score for Darkling is complete and the mix will be in the next week or so, so stay tuned for posted samples.

Special Olympics fanfares are coming very soon! VSL SE and SI are working very hard to bring them to you!

April 6, 2009

My Profile Story has been posted over at Atom.com. Stumblers give it a thumbs up, Digg it, share it with friends and enjoy the experience! A lot of hard work and a lot of love went into the making of it. I'm very proud of the score.

Buckets has been accepted into the Staten Island Film Festival, and Darkling is due to be completed in May.

I received a copy of the video from the Special Olympics and was pleased to see how many people my music helped to introduce: Tim Shriver, Tony Robbins, Kristy Yamaguchi, Deson Tesai, Scott Hamilton, Jessica Crook, Bart O'Conner and Donna DeCorona. I hope to post some of the video from the event. You can't hear the score too well in the auditorium, but you can definitely identify the music. Mockups are still coming soon.

There has been a lot of exciting news lately! I was asked to compose music to announce celebrities in attendance of the Special Olympics 2009 World Winter Games opening ceremonies. As soon as I am able, I will provide mockups, or hopefully will have access to a recording. I'm very excited about the work I did, and thrilled to provide music for such a great event. The music for the event was performed live by members of the Boise Philharmonic under the direction of Craig Purdy.

The Fine Bros. were featured in TV Guide talking about the LOST Parodies. Here is another article talking about it. And by the way, Season Two has already begun if you haven't caught up yet, be sure to check out Just For Laughs.com.

Buckets has been accepted into a couple more film festivals. The most recent, Babelgum, relies heavily on voting so be sure to check out the film online and vote for it!

October 5th, 2008

In July I helped out producer Todd Serlin by composing a piece for his independent short film called Buckets. We recently got the news that the film was selected to premiere at AFI Fest!

Here for your enjoyment is a processional and a recessional. More updates coming soon!

New Kung-Fu Grip videos at EscapistMagazine.com: The Final Final Fantasy and Star Wars: A New Halo. It has been a lot of fun to parody the popular stylings of Nobuo Uematsu and John Williams on these projects.

The Escapist was less than excited about the Super Smash Bros. Rape, a hilarious send up of what the villans do every time they kidnap the Princess, re-enacted entirely with action figures, of course, so we'll have to wait before we can share that one.

New Kung-Fu Grip video by Ravenstake at the EscapistMagazine.com for all fans of Metal Gear Solid. SNAAAKE!!!

On a completely different series of notes, I just completed work on a piece for choir called All The Stars. Four and twenty voices, all me, and a lot of reverb. The lyrics are from an unknown poet, famous for being anonymous, Noris Stover Washburn:

All the stars
in the sky
reflected in our eyes
shine down on us
guiding us home
on this summer night
and all my heart
is yours forever.

New Lost Parody! Episode 5: Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the LOST Island here, featured on the comedy page at YouTube!

May 4, 2008

New Lost Parodies: Episode 3 here and Episode 4 here.

The Hanged Man record mix is almost finished. The latest from the director is that there are several companies interested in the film. Hopefully it will be sold soon!

February 27, 2008

Screenings for The Hanged Man are beginning next week at Universal! The album mixes are still in progress.

Until then, find out what happens next in Episode 2 of the Lost Parody.

February 2, 2008

I'm wrapping up work on my first feature-length film for director Neil Weiss. It's a horror film called The Hanged Man, and I'm very excited about how it has turned out. We are still in the post-production phase. Most of the music was done with sample libraries due to budgetary restrictions, but we nonetheless enlisted the help of a scoring mixer, Evan Rautiainen, who has really helped the score come to life. I will post mp3's soon!

Until then here's a LOST Parody produced by Ravenstake, and using some music which I composed.

November 14, 2007

Beginning of the End has been selected to appear in the New Filmmaker's Film Festival in New York City, in January 2008.

November 6, 2007

My busy schedule kept me from finishing this piece sooner, but I have just completed some music for Halloween. Junior's New Pet is a gothic bedtime story with a bit of suspense, some grisly chills, and some humor. Always remember to poke holes in the lid.

October 6, 2007

Beginning of the End has been accepted into the LA Femme Film Festival. It premieres at noon on Saturday October 13th, in the Wilshire Screening Room (8670 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90211).

The second episode of Jurdy and Benny has been completed, and the first two episodes have been posted.

You can watch the entire film of Dead Line. All movies on my site have been encoded in mp4 format to keep the file size manageable.

Welcome to the new site. I have rearranged and streamlined a few things. Newest updates will appear here on the main page, as opposed to a news archive. Specific information about a project will now be listed under that project on the credits page.

Since the site is set up to run in frames, cue lists can remain and mp3s and movies can play while you browse through the credits or bio. To listen, just click through the the graphic above. To request a demo CD, please contact me. To return to the main page, click on my name above and it will bring you back.

Also new are excerpts of a few of my personal favorite cues and arranged them by genre. To listen to these, just click on the graphics above.

I have updated the interactive credits page. To listen to music from a specific project, click on Credits and then select the project title. A list of cues will appear to the right and you can select a track from the list. Other information about that project can also be found here.
